South West Metro Pirates are hoping for a reverse in fortune this Saturday, following a loss at the hands of Lady Spartans in Round 1. They’ll be bolstered by a home court advantage when they look to overcome a Brisbane Capitals side determined to make it two from two.

Capitals Trio Meg Essex (16pts, 13 reb), Georgia Woolley (16 pts, 10 reb) and Maddie Woodford (16 pts , 7 reb) will be full of confidence after securing Brisbane’s Round 1 win over Ipswich Force last weekend.

Gold Coast Lady Rollers go back to back this weekend, first against local rivals North Gold Coast Seahawks. Seahawks only fell by 3 last weekend to Northside Wizards and they’ll look to Aimee Durbidge (21pts, 12 reb) and Emily Allen (16 pts, 11 reb) to secure the win on Saturday.

RedCity Roar fell at the first hurdle last weekend, going down 94-81 against competition heavyweights Logan Thunder. Lady Spartans tipped off their 2020 season with a bang, recording 124 points to Pirates’ 47 last weekend and will be hoping to replicate last year’s 2019 QBL Women’s Grand Final results when they host Lady Rollers on Sunday.

Kalani Purcell (14 pts, 11 ast, 10 reb and a triple double) and Maddy Willey (40 pts including 7/11 from three-point range) were standout performers in Round 1 and will be key players to watch this season.
